What Causes Swelling Above The Ankles While On Morphine?

My husband has liver cancer and takes 10 mg of morphine night and morning. Just started this a week ago. Today both his feet are swollen and just above his ankles on both feet are small red marks. Cannot get in touch with Princess M. Today. Is swollen feet and red marks something we should be concerned about before tomorrow? This is 7 pm on Mar 28.

Liver cancer is a bad disease. When the liver is failing, fluid does not stay in the vessels for many reasons. The red marks I cannot say anything about without seeing them BUT they can be small areas of blood leakage either due to the same problems causing fluid (no proteins being made by the liver and then no ability to clot and no ability to hold in fluid), or just irritation from socks or low platelets and small bleeding. The bleeding is often the final reason for death in liver disease including liver cancer.
