What Causes Swelling Above Collarbone?

Hi, the skin above my collarbone (between my collarbone and neck) is swollen. It s not hard at all, but its actually noticeable. I was out in the sun for 3 hours this morning and it was really hot outside, and I also have whiplash from a recent car accident (7 days ago). Can you give me a guess as to why this is happening?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello and welcome.

Swollen lymph nodes are mostly the cause for swelling in the location described by you. But taking into consideration no symptoms or history of an infection I would like to turn to the whiplash injury that may raise suspicion for either injury to the collar bone itself or a simple muscular injury. Either way, it would be best to visit a doctor for further evaluation so we know what's really going.

Best wishes
