What Causes Sudden Sharp Pain In The Right Calf Muscle?

Hello Dr. Rynne. My name is Steve, I am a 45 YO male in good shape/health and while unloading my motorhome (just now) I felt a sudden sharp px in my right calf. Thought I had dropped something on it like a full soda can, but did not. The discomfort gets worse when I walk. Pulled calf muscle?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a strained muscle.

I suggest using anti-inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the symptoms.

I also recommend using Voltaren gel for local application.

Warm compresses can also be helpful to relieve the pain.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
