What Causes Sudden Severe Joint Pain When Previously Diagnosed With Lyme Disease?

My daughter is 24 years old and at 2:30 in the morning had sudden and severe joint pain .. Unexplained - she had Lyme and was treated for it back in 2009 ... we are awaiting test results and doctor says so far she is not presenting text book in any category. Doctor just ordered more blood work .. inflammation levels are slightly elevated ... Any idea where this may be heading .. virus .. rheumatoid ??? Thank you !

Hi ,welcome to Healthcare Magic. Thank you for trusting us to solve your query. As you have mentioned past history of Lyme disease, let me tell you that inspite of appropriate treatment about 10-20% of people experience joint pain or swelling years later too. We cannot deny this possibility. But good of you to have consulted a physician in time. I would suggest you to wait for the blood reports to get a clear picture. Meanwhile pain can be reduced by hot foementation. Please attach the reports and write back, we would be very interested to know the results. Take care.
Feel free to write to me for any other queries.
Regards,
Dr. Anuja
