What Causes Sudden Pain In The Chest Radiating To The Neck And Arms?
Hello! Yesterday, I was in the grocery store and a had a sudden onset of severe pain in my chest, along with sharp pains in my neck and towards the end of my collar bone and very slightly down my arm in my armpit. All of this was on the left side of my body and it lasted probably about 40 seconds. I am very concerned as I am only 21 years old and from what little I know, it seemed like it may have been a heart attack or something along those lines. I'm really hoping you can tell me it was just an anxiety attack or something less critical like that.
Your symptoms could be due to heart problem like angina, infraction, gastric problem, panic attack. I would suggest to consult internal medicine specialist and undergo clinical examination, routine blood tests, CK-MB. CK total, troponin tests, ECG test to confirm cause. If all tests will come normal then it mostly due to panic attack. Specific treatment will depend on cause. Meanwhile take tablet Diclofenac for pain, drink plenty of water, avoid stress, and do regular exercise.
Hope this may help you. Contact further if follow up needed.
Best regards, Dr. Sagar
