What Causes Sudden Pain And Swelling In The Knees At Night?

Two nights ago my knee suddenly swelled up and became painful. It is still swollen and painful, although I can walk easily and hardly feel it during the day. In the late afternoon and night it is more painful, but mainly only when walking, moving. There is a reddy/brown patch showing below the knee, and the knee itself is somewhat red. It s painful to touch, although again not unbearably, and it feels like there s maybe fluid in the swelling. what do you think it might be?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* Likely due to acute inflammation of the knee joint due to various issues most likely due to bacterial infection or arthritis sequence.

* An immediate assistance with your consultant surgeon is mandatory to get an x-ray and further assistance.

* Though primary relief with ice application and anti-inflammatory medicine can be obtained.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
