Hi,I am Dr. Andrew Rynne (Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Sudden Disorientation While On Levothyroxine, Lisinopril, Metoprolol And Eliquis?
My 93 year old mother in law was recently dx with atrial fib and was Rx for Eloquis about 2 weeks ago she is currently on levothyroxine ,lisinopril , metoprolol and one small aspirin. Yesterday ,she was disoriented and thought it was 1946. My husband took her to the ER and she was dx with a bladder infection. We did some research on line about the Eloquis and it seems that there may be some dementia links. What about weaning off of Eloquis and switching to Warfarin? My husband is contacting her md s but it is a holiday and difficult to talk directly.
Hi, Thanks for your question. I do understand your pain and discomfort. As per her history is concerned please follow:- 1)Check her body temperature every 6 hours and record it as she had infection add antibiotics 2)Check her TSH level and adjust her dose 3)As she had gone to ER and all clinical examination for heart and neurological has been checked ,so nothing to be worried for it. 4)Continue with [Eliquis ]as we prescribe to all cases of all ages of AF.
I hope I was able to address your query. If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to write to me. Wishing you all the best. Thanks
