What Causes Sudden Acne Outbreak?

yes I began having an outbreak of acne on my face and skin. I had acne as a teenager, but at over 59 I was really surprised to get this outbreak. Although these pimples are not your average zit. These develop as a red spot with a growth under the skin. Eventually after several days the whitehead appears but will not pop or heal until the small hard white growth is dug out root and all. If all of the growth is not removed, another grows. If all growth is removed then the sore will eventually heal. What is it that has affected, or infected me?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sudden acne outbreak on face and skin which occur when duct of sebaceous gland get blocked and infected by bacteria. It could be due to hormonal changes ,stress or some medications. I would suggest you to not to prick or touch acne. You should exfoliate your skin to remove dead skin and bacteria's, wash your face with mild soap twice a day. It mild skin infection which will eventually heal. You should avoid over exposure to sun and use over the counter ointment containing benzoyl peroxide. If condition persists even after adopting above method then consult dermatologist for proper evaluation of your condition . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , isotretinoin containing ointment or procedures like chemical peel or laser therapy.
