What Causes Strong Smelling Urine?

For a couple of months now my urine has smelt strong but I cant quite pin down what it smells of. I can also smell the same odour throughout the day. I asked my husband if he could smell it and he says not. I ve been to the Drs and he did a quick urine sample text, said I might have a mild infection and gave me antibiotics. He sent the urine off for more tests, no contact means it was probably ok. I am 48 and I believe pre menapausal as periods are infrequent; I ve not really had one for 6 months. I ve bled for one day I think that s it. I m 5ft4 10 stone.

Consumption of certain foods, such as asparagus (which can impart a characteristic odor to urine), and taking some medications may be causes for changes in the odor of urine. The presence of bacteria in the urine, such as with a urinary tract infection (UTI), can affect the appearance and smell of urine.
