What Causes Strong Palpitations Along With Headache?
Hi, about a week ago i started noticing strong palpitations. Its something I've never experienced before. I also feel a traveling pain in my left side. I feel it at random times.I was debating whether it was my boob or my heart. I was on my period last week so i thought that might have triggered it but ive been done with that and its still happening. I do drink alot of coffee and dark sodas. I also do carry alot of stress. I didnt drinki coffee yesterday to see if maybe that was the cause, but instead i got a really bad caffeine headache.

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Strong palpitations can be caused by hypertension or associated with thyroid disorders or heart problems. So you should get checked you blood pressure level thyroid function test and at least an ECG to rule out all these.Serum cholesterol also should be checked.Taking more coffee can increase the palpitations. So you should gradually decrease it.If everything is fine then anxiolytics like alprazolam helps. But if that also not helping then beta blockers like metaprolol in small doses will help you.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
