What Causes Straining Of The Feet And Shins?

I am 70 years of age and have what is characterized as staining of my feet and shins. I have a normal pusalation of the dorsalis pedis. My twin brother was told, by a vascular surgeion, that he had vascular staining which is a congenital benign condition. Is this correct?

Hi,

If you have normal pulsations in your legs and don't have any other symptoms like pain on walking (claudication) or stiffness in your knee joints, then you have simple varicose veins which doesn't need any treatment until unless you have any problems. Simply do not worry about it. You can use compression stockings if you want to control it from further progression.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shahid Akbar, General & Family Physician
