What Causes Stool Incontinence?

I am wondering if I might have c-diff. I am a cna and do homecare. I know I have one patient who was treated for c-diff. I wash my hands thoroughly. Anyways, I have had inconsistent stools. Sometimes I have many real small ones throughout the day. Recently though I did not have a stool for a number of days and then had a full blow out, diaherea. Now I am back to having a small one a few times a day. I was wonderin too if the stool could smell sour? Also, if left untreated if this is what it is, what could happen?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

C diff would normally present with a prolonged course of diarrhea, symptoms do not normally resolve after 1 day.

This means that it is not likely that your diarrhea was due to c diff and there is another cause.
It is possible that it was due a viral infection which is one of the more common causes of diarrhea.

I hope this helps
