What Causes Stomach Upset Along With Fatigue And Headache?

About a month ago, I began having a lot of upset with my stomach. Not bad pain, just constant and feeling like I had the flu---exhausted, headache, and weak--too weak to even get my clothes on. I went to Dr. and found my blood pressure was VERY high, 202/88 so Dr. wanted to work on that immediately. Gave me two more prescriptions, went home, got it down to 152/68 but still had all the other symptoms plus now my stomach felt like it was fluttering . And again I had the exhaustion, ended up at hospital when I couldn t even get to bathroom on my own. That Dr. felt it was probably dehydration, got IV and blood pressure. Didn t put it on my papers but said it might be a virus. Was on my feet when I left there--got more water into me and felt better for a few days and then down again. Called dr. and he sent me to gastro-enterologist and given stuff to coat my stomach and some more fiber. Helped with the little pain I had but would have a couple good days where I could do errands and house jobs and then I d be down for three or 4 days. I just had another day like that last Saturday and now am waiting for the 4 hour test on my stomach. Had an endoscopy and colonoscopy last year because of having trouble swallowing (all looked fine--still have that problem). Been a long time since last colonoscopy so Dr. just recommended it at same time. I forgot the nausea I have--not every day and usually before I ve eaten anything and sometimes gets ok with eating. Sometimes I end up taking a nausea pill. It s even hard to concentrate when I m feeling the worst. Like I said, some of symptoms remind me of when I ve got over flu, etc. And the weakness especially does.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

I have read the history and understood that you are having constant throbbing headaches and cramping stomachaches. Medicines are no helping, feeling tired and grumpy in spite of sufficient sleep. This is going throughout the day.

From the history you have provided, your problems may be related to the intestinal infection causing headache, such as enteric fever or so.

I would advise you the following:
- Please provide me further history.
- Consult a Physician for clinical evaluation, actual physical examination, necessary investigations of blood, urine, stool, CT brain and prescription based treatment.

I hope this answer helps you to get started on the proper guideline to get an early diagnosis and proper treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
