What Causes Stomach Upset After Taking Metformin?

I took my metformin late well after I ate and after i drank 5 beers---I started having what I call mini stroke episodes the next morning---my stomach would feel a little upset then i would get this rush like a wave that engulfed my legs and my upper body -- I have had 6 of those since last night they last for no more than about 45 seconds was that because of alcohol or something else?

metformin is not directly responsible for stomach upset should not have taken so much of beer while on metforminitcan be alcohol responsible for such problem. minimize taking alcohol that to in empty stomach. take tab omiprazol and polycrol gel.
