What Causes Stomach Upset After Taking Meloxicam?

I am taking miloxocem for a heel surgery and it is upsetting my tummy - even after 2-1/3 meals. (Maybe in the duodenum now.) Any issues with taking prilosec with it? The doctor gave me a prescription for Vicoden for when the local wears off in 12 to 48 hours.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Stomach upset is due to possible gastritis from the Meloxicam.

But the OTC Prilosec is not recommended, because there are chances that via drug metabolism pathway of the liver P450 enzyme system, the Omeprazole will increase the effects of Meloxicam.

I strongly recommend consulting the office of your doctor for further actions.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
