What Causes Stomach Pain, Loss Of Appetite And Constipation In A Child?

My 5 yo son has had a stomach ache and no appetite all day. He's been constipated for the last several days, but this evening he had diarrhea. Stomach ache continued and gradually got worse, then he vomited about 2 hrs after diarrhea. At first, the vomit looked "normal". After taking a breath, he vomited more and it was suddenly very dark brown. Is the change in color something to be concerned about?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query your son have symptoms of stomach pain, loss of appetite and constipation which seems to be due to irritable bowel syndrome and due to viral infection leading to acute gastroenteritis. It could be due to electrolyte imbalance in body. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to visit pediatrician once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper prescription. Give child oral rehydrating solution and plenty of fluids. Avoid giving dairy products to child. You should give fluoroquinolones to child. Give diet rich in fibres. Give small and frequent meals to child. You should apply isbogol at times.
