Hello my 26 mo baby keeps on complaining that her tummy is aching from time to time for 5 days now. I got her stool exam result just today. It shows: RBC: 1-3/hpf; WBC: 2-5/hpf; bacteria: moderate. Parasites: E. histolytica cys: 0-2/hpf ------------------------------------ E. histolytica trophozoite: 0-2/hpf What does this mean? Thanks

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. As per your query your baby have stomach pain which seems to be due to parasitic infection.

Need not to worry. For now give child diet which includes more water and liquids. Avoid giving any sharp and spicy food. Eat more fruits and vegetables. Give child proper rest. I would suggest you to consult gastroenterologist once for proper examination and start medications after prescription.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
