What Causes Stomach Bloating?

For a couple of months now, I have been having a lot of bloating. I am clearly not pregnant. Every time I eat or drink something my stomach doubles or triples in size. Sometimes in the morning I will wake up with my normal flat stomach and as soon as I drink something or eat, bam I m bloated and feel huge the rest of the day. I have a lot of gas, belching but its really hard for me to go to the bathroom so I m constipated regularly. I have no idea what could be causing this and its really taking a toll on my mentally. Any ideas what could be happening????

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Bloating can be due to: (1) GERD - gastroesophageal reflux disease

This is treated with lifestyle changes and medications. Lifestyle changes involve reducing the use of spicy/acidic/fried/fatty foods

(2)use of foods associated with increased gas production eg broccoli, cabbage, turnips, beans, carbonated drinks

(3)lactose or food intolerance

(4)celiac disease

You may want to change your diet to see if this may cause an improvement in your symptoms.

I hope this helps
