General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi there

You seem to have contracted gastroenteritis which is an infection of the stomach and bowel.

This is usually viral but in some cases can be bacterial i.e. when you contract food poisoning.

If the diarrhea is resolving, you can treat yourself at home by having a lot of fluids and rehydration solution, taking over the counter treatment like metoclopromide, hyoscine and loperamide.
Probiotics will also help.

If you have blood in your diarrhea or if the diarrhea persists, you will need to visit your doctor for some antibiotics.

Do make sure that you stay well hydrated.

Hope this helps.
