What Causes Stomach Ache And Backache After Taking Voriconazole?

My 84 year old father is just completed taking voriconazole 50 mg for a fungal lung infection this last Wednesday. He is having stomach and back pains late Friday night and is still continuing still tonight. I have him drinking warm water along with Aptivia yogart. Is there anything else I can offer him to give him some relief

Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
From the information you have given his back ache could be due to infection that still persists in body & causing cough- breathlessness - plural inflammation.Stomach pain could be due to raised acidity (because of medicines/ starving )OR altered digestion
* You are giving probiotic yogurt to give, which might exaggerate the symptoms of bronchitis ... You can replace it with pills / liquid ampules or pouches of lactobacillus preparation.
* For stomach pain let him eat frequent, small, warm & bland but nourishing food . Over the counter Ranitidin 150 mg given 2-3 times will help.He may need digestive enzymes in addition to probiotics.
* Take him to the treating doctor for examination & investigation like X ray if needful for further anti fungal treatment & more specific advise.
