What Causes Stinging Sensation Below The Left Knees?

I have noticed in the last couple of weeks a stinging sensation on my left leg, just below the knee on the outer side. It seems irritated when touched -but has no visible skin irritation or bruising. Stinging pain only when pressure is applied, then continues to hurt (sting) only for a short while (15 min). Activity does not seem to affect it - only external pressure.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Seems to be irritation of fibular nerve - it runs just below the skin in the area you refer to. irritation could be due to trauma/ pressure due to local swelling or joint swelling or bone spur - causing the symptoms
* Take rest. Take anti inflammatory drug like Ibuprofen twice a day along with tablet B12 twice a day. .. a simple swelling would resolve in 4-5 days.
If no relief... you should get consultation of an orthopedic surgeon for needful investigations & specific treatment.
Thanks.
