Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
HI, I have always had stiffness in my knees but after a short walk around the block, The back of my right knee is very painful making it extremely difficult to bear weight on that right leg, there is no swelling and no numbness, no deformity in appearance
If you have pain on the calf after walking a certain distance the first thing to rule out is claudicatio intermitens. This is a similar condition to the heart problems but is happening to the leg.
The artery might have a certain amount of blockage and can not supply enough blood to feed the rest of the leg when demands are increased as happens with exercise (walking or other efforts).
You will need to have a visit with your doctor and he might need to do an examination to evaluate the pulses and both feet and compare them and also check the blood pressure in your feet and compare it with your arms.
Your doctor might also ask for a Doppler ultrasound examination of the leg to rule out problems with veins. After these examinations the doctor will be able to know for sure the cause of the leg pain and the needed treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj,
