What Causes Stiffness And Pain In Right Hip?

Hello -- I am having right hip issues. I have no pain in the hip when sitting, standing or lifting my leg to 90 degrees. I do have stiffness and trouble getting my legs to walk after sitting for a long period. The only time I have pain is at night when in lay on that hip. I have been seeing a chiropractor with no relief. Any suggestions??

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

You are experiencing pain and stiffness in the right hip. You have pain in the hips when you lay on bed on that hip. Avoid laying on bed on the side of the affected hip to prevent triggering in of pain and discomfort. Your symptoms are suggestive of hip arthritis, sciatica, sprain-strain, nerve impingement or tendon/ligament tear due to blunt trauma or injury.

You are suggested to get clinically examined by an Orthopedics, get blood works, urinalysis, CBC, imaging tests to detect the pathology causing you discomfort. You will be accordingly given conservative treatment with anti inflammatory medicines or NSAIDs, antacids, pain relieving ointments / sprays, massage therapy, physical therapy, diet changes, etc. Stay away from addictions if any. Stay active, avoid sedentary lifestyle. Take home made nutritious food.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
