What Causes Stiff Muscles And Imbalance While Walking When Suffering From Multiple Sclerosis?

I have had a relatively Benign case of MS SINCE 1968 until the past few years, when sx seemed to increase. Currently I gave muscle stiffness, tightness and cramping in my groin, butt and legs. My neurologist thanks this may be due to spinal stenosis (evidenced on MRI) but I gave no back involvement and no PAIN. Additionally I am experiencing imbalance and am using a can to walk. No NEW. Lesions on my MRI. All muscle function studies within normal limits. Comments? MS or spinal stenosis?
