What Causes Sticky Urine?

Hello, My husband is a Type 2 diabetic. When he dribbles just a touch of urine on the floor in front of the commode, it usually dries quickly. I stepped in it the other night with my socks and it was extremely sticky. Almost like someone spilled soft drink. He drinks 1-2 bottles of water through the night and gets up to urinate about 4 times in an 8 hr period. He was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes three years ago. He is 6’3” and weighed around 230. He is now at 175 lbs and he is continuously losing weight. He is currently on 1000 mg of Metformin twice daily. (1) 12 hour Zyrtec d every morning. He is also on prevasatin (sp?) 2 mg once a day. And glimeperide once a day. I am getting concerned. He has an appt tomorrrow and it’s a fasting appt. Last appt. he had a fasting sugar of 262 and A1C was 7.5. What should I do. I’m getting scared.

Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

1)Check his fasting blood sugar and lipid profile after 12 hours fasting and adjust medication after test result.

2)Do take all medications as usual and it is the right medication for him.

Do take few lifestyle modifications like this -

1)Try to eat healthy foods. Choose foods lower in fat and calories and higher in fiber. Focus on fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

2)Get more physical activity. Aim for 30 minutes of moderate physical activity a day. Take a brisk daily walk. If you can't fit in a long workout, break it up into smaller sessions spread throughout the day.

3)Try to lose excess pounds. If you're overweight, losing even 7 percent of your body weight can reduce the risk of diabetes complications. To keep your weight in a healthy range, focus on permanent changes to your eating and exercise habits.

Hope that helps
