What Causes Steady Weight Gain?

In the last 8 months I have put on 20 pounds. I lost 30 pounds last year and literally over night last Christmas began putting it back on. I have cut my calories in half and doubled my workout, and still keep putting on weight. I have had my thyroid checked and my doctor says it is normal. I ve seen a cardiologist and a GI, and both say everything is normal. I know I am probably in to menopause now, but this rapid weight gain can not be normal. I know my body and something is NOT right. The most troubling part is that no matter what I do, or how extreme my methods , I can not loose a single pound.
