What Causes Stabbing Pain In Area Where Thighs Join Buttocks?

I am a male, 38 years of age. My work entails sitting for 7-8 hours. Since 2008 I developed sudden stabbing pain where my thighs join buttocks. The pain slowly started radiating to my genitals. I had to leave my job because I couldn't sit for a lengthy period. Now I am feeling a bit better but the pain does come and go. The pain is only in the area I have mentioned. By extensive reading I have sort of zeroed in on pudendal neuralgia, could it be that? If it is are there any treatments available for that. Please enlighten me. Thank you
