Hi, I have a question. About a year ago I noticed some spots on the top of both my ankles that resemble bruising, I do not have pain and it is not bothersome. They have not spread and I have tried massaging then to see if the brusing will go away. I showed my doctor but, he didn t seem bothered. Just looking for some causes.
Spots on the ankle could be a manifestation of pigmented purpuric dermatosis. It occurs as a result of ectasia of small capillaries of the legs.Shin spots are also a manifestation of diabetes mellitus.Elevate the legs a little while you sleep. Avoid prolonged standing. Drugs like pentoxyphiline and Vitamin C are helpful.
