What Causes Sporadic Burning Sensation On The Breast During Menstruation?

Hi I have my period since yesterday but noticed right breast has a burning sensation that comes and goes. It was around the nipple at first inside but i cant feel any lumps. It has since moved to the side. It reminds me of thrush when I breasted. I am 45 years old. I don t normally suffer any soreness in my breasts during menstration.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms are typical of cyclical mastalgia and are due to hormonal changes.

It is quite common among young females and will settle as the age advances.

Drugs like mefenamic acid will be effective. An ultrasound breast may be taken to look for any lumps or masses in the beast.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
