What Causes Soreness In Throat And Severe Ear Pain While Having Mononucleosis?
my daughter has mononucleosis and has been ill for three weeks. she is better now and preparing for finals at college. she had a severe sore throat and swelling on right side of throat with increasing ear pain. clinic told her she had pressure on auditory nerve from swelling. was treated with steroids pills and ibuprophen. helped but still cannot hear properly from that ear. she is worried about permanent hearing loss. what is the chance that hearing loss will be permanent? I have gone through your complaints.as dr said its because of estachian tube compression from swelling causing decreased aeration of middle ear causing severe pain.you are taking right treatment.once swelling decreases everything wil be fine.this hearing problem is not permanant.dont worry.encourage warm liquids and lorenges which icreases swallowing frequency .most of the times it wil facilitate early releif of block and this ear problem.
