Hi,

Well, if the pain is in the area of cartilage and the surrounding jaw and if there is no pain in the jaw joint then the pain can be most probably due to any disturbances in the functioning of the jaw joint.

So my suggestion is to consult an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigation like panoramic X-ray can be done to rule out any problem with the jaw joint.

For now you can take muscle relaxant like Chlorzoxazone to see if it helps.

Also, take soft meals. Gently massage the side of the jaw with the round motion of fingertips.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
