What Causes Soreness And Pain In The Nipple?

Hello. My left nipple is EXTREMELY sore. It s been hurting for 2 days now. I realized this when I was laying on my stomach and put some weight on my chest pushing my breast to the couch and it was a terrible pain. I later checked to see if it still hurt by squeezing it barley and it was so terrible I almost screamed just by putting a little bit of pressure. But it only hurts when I apply pressure or push up against something. I m only 18 and this is the worst pain I ve felt. It s throbbing right now. I dont know what to do or think.

I read about your concern.

Now, the most common cause of sore nipple is Pregnancy and Nursing. But i assume that cannot be the cause for you as i assume you are not married.

Next , Itchy and sore nipples can be due to infection , with thrush or some kind of Bacteria, and warrants the use of Antibiotics.

Mastitis ,which is an infection of the breast tissue or intraductal papilloma are other common causes which need surgical consultation.

These causes are easily resolved and shouldnt be a cause for concern.

Another common cause is ill-fitting undergarments.

Eczema or contact dermatitis may be another cause.

Look out for other signs like discharge from the breast , or inverted nipples.
These signs will definitely be needed to be looked into.

For eczema or contact dermatitis, you may consider taking fexofenadine 120 preparation twice daily. be sure to consult your dermatologist if the problem persist.

For infection due to mastitis, amoxicillin-clavulanic acid 625 mg is the best preparation .
