What Causes Sore Tongue And Swollen Glands?

I have had a sore tongue before that was from sinus drainage and it went away within a day or two. This time, however, I woke up six days ago with the back of my tongue feeling very sore and it hasn't gotten any better, my glands also appear to be swollen and under my chin/neck area is sore. There is no discoloration, no bumps or anything that looks different about my tongue. Any idea what it could be?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain soreness at the back of tongue seems to be due to inflammation of the tongue leading to Glossitis and swollen glands along with tenderness under the jaw or chin seems to be due to infection in throat and the sore tongue is also due to it..
I would suggest you to consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like throat swab culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly..
You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Augmentin or Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, and also do warm saline gargles and steam inhalations.
You should gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve the tongue soreness..
You can also take multivitamin tablets daily..
Avoid spicy and hard foods..
Drink plenty of water and maintain a good oral hygiene..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
