What Causes Sore Throat And Discomfort While Swallowing?

I am sometimes having a sore throat feeling but more in my thyroid area. I take arm our thyroid for an under acting thyroid. I notice it when I swallow but not every time. I have never noticed it before. The endocrinologist said it felt okay when I went to her three months ago. Is this a possible thyroid problem? Thanks! Susan Sorry I can t afford to pay. I thought it said it was free.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of sore throat and discomfort while swallowing. Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query , but in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to viral pharyngitis and thyroid hormonal imbalance.

As mentioned about thyroid in query you should consult ENT specialist as well as endocrinologist once and get blood tests and hormonal levels monitored such as T3, T4 and thyroxine. You can be advised a course of antibiotics, anti inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, mucolytics like Ambroxol. You can also do warm saline gargles 3 to 4 times a day. Avoid spicy and chilled foods.Take more of fluids and a semisolid diet.
