What Causes Sore Throat Along With Swollen Tonsils?
Hi, I have a sore throat, almost feels like it s on fire. My throat burns when I cough and I can taste pus. It is a dry cough. My tonsils are swollen and red, uvula is red also. No chest congestion. No nasal discharge. No post nasal drip. No head ache.

Sore throat can be related most commonly to : acute infection , allergies, GERD.
The presence of a cough and discharge makes an infection most likely. Though viral sore throat is a lot more common than bacterial, if your pain is severe, it would be best to see your doctor for an assessment.
If it is bacterial then antibiotics would be needed.
In addition to the antibiotics, the use of topical pain killers may also be helpful eg chloroseptic, diflam, covonia throat
