What Causes Sore Throat After Receiving A Flu Shot?

I m 66 years old. I just got over a bad cold a week ago (took Zithromax to get rid of it). I got my yearly flu shot this afternoon. 6 hrs. later, I have achy symptoms, sore throat and VERY bloodshot eyes. Could these symptoms be the result of the flu shot?

Hello,

I think in your case the symptoms are related to the side effects of flu shot and this is normal. Flu shot has superficial antigen of influenza viruses that create anti -corps in your body to protect you from influenza. During this process you can have this symptoms. But you have to know that these side effects last a short time compared to the actual flu illness.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Monika Dede
