What Causes Sore Throat After Choking On Food Particle?

i choked on a dorrito chip one & a halfhrs ago. managed to dislodge it. also coughed up a little bit of blood while doing this. have been drinking water fine, breathing fine. also had a pceof bread too. alls good there. worring about how long to wait til i can go to bed. still have very sore throat from this like pressure of where it was. i know its gone. should i be right now & how long does it take to be digested please.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that there has been injury to the throat mucosa with the chip that must be considerably hard also and it has caused inflammation and swelling in throat mucosa leading to pain and discomfort..

As it is dislodged from the throat, you need not to worry as there is no complication and the problem that is left is just due to injury to throat..
You can very much go to bed and there is no problem in that..

To relieve pain and discomfort you can take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen..
You can do warm saline gargles..
Drink plenty of cool water as it helps in reducing inflammation and pain..
You should take a soft diet..
The discomfort will start resolving in 2 to 3 days..
