What Causes Sore Stomach, Illness, Fever And Vomiting?

We have a four year old daughter, that has been complaining of a sore tummy ( actually just below the navel) , since the weekend of June 26. On that weekend she became very ill, with a fever but it seem to pass quickly, but now she has for some weeks had a sore tummy and today threw-up at day camp. Her appetite had been good and she was fairly active. The past few days though she has not been her usual cheerful self.

Hi,

Is there any frequent urge to urinate or pain while urinating? Any change in bowel? Fever, lower abdominal pain and vomiting might suggest a urine infection. An acute gastroenteritis also can cause same symptoms initially, but will develop loose stools later.

Try giving her Acetaminophen for pain and Ondansetron for vomiting for 3 days. If no relief by then , or fresh symptoms comes, kindly take her to your pediatrician for further evaluation. In this case, you might be asked for a urine routine and blood count.
