What Causes Smell Of Cigarettes All The Time In Nose?

I have a smell of cigarettes in an ash tray all the time in my nose. when air blows from a fan or air conditioner vent it is stronger. This has been going on for weeks. The smell is extremely strong sometimes. I am not around anyone smoking at home or work.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query smell of cigarettes all the time in nose is known as Phantosmia which occurs mainly due to olfactory hallucinations. You should take tablet Desvenlafaxine daily and your symptoms will resolve soon. It could be due to bowel obstruction, obsessive compulsive disorder, acid reflux , poor oral hygiene , oral infection like gingivitis , sinusitis , nervous system dysfunction. I would suggest you to consult neurologist/ psychiatrist once and get it examined for proper examination and diagnosis and then start treatment accordingly if your symptoms keeps on persisting. Take diet rich in fresh fruits and vegetables. drink plenty of water along with that take green tea 2-3 times a day.
You should visit gastroenterologist as well. Doctor prescribe you for barium swallow study. You should maintain proper oral hygiene.
