What Causes Small Dark Spot On The Periphery Of The Left Eye Vision?

I have a small dark spot on the left eye vision in the periphery. It seems to move up and down when I move my eye about but not always. At first I thought it was a fly moving about at the side of my head. All health is good. I am 66 and in good health.

Hello,

Presence of dark spots in periphery of visual field is probably due to floaters. Floaters can occur due to vitreous degeneration or some abnormality in retina.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
