Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Slurred Speech While On Medication For Anxiety And Sleep Disorder?
My mom has been having slurred speech, she was on reglan for about a year and has involuntary movement of the tongue on top of ill fitting dentures and being on many medications such as sleeping pills and anti-anxiety meds. currently she is in the hospital being checked for a stroke. What did you think?
Involuntary movements can be caused by metochlorpramide (reglan) so she needs to talk to her doctor to confirm if it is safe for her to continue to use it or not. Also depending on the sleeping medications and the anxiety medications, they can be the cause of the symptoms as well so it is important to try and figure out which of her medications is most likely the cause.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
