Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Slight Pain And Swelling In Toe Post Cheilectomy?
Is this a free service? I had a cheilectomy(bone spur removed) on my left toe on July 1, so far still not able to bend toe as well as I or the doctor would like. I perform the exercises and I walk but I m still having slight pain when I walk to much and a small amount of swelling. The joint has a significant amount of cartilage erosion. Taking Meloxicam 15 mg, what else can be done to improve this situation?
After cheilectomy, a special shoe is worn for about 2 weeks, but swelling may last for several months. If an osteotomy is done, swelling usually goes down in 6 to 8 weeks, but healing can take up to 3 months. Meanwhile, I suggest to continue using anti inflammatory medications such as Meloxicam.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
