What Causes Slight Cramps And Heavy Bleeding After An Abortion?

Hi i terminated a 4months fetus with a cytotec (misoprostol) i think it goes out like a normal delivery. I just done it at home in 23yrs old living in philippines. I feel slight cramps and im heavily bleeding. Is it possible not to go to a gynecologist and not to perform a raspa on me? I ve done these twice the first one is only 2months and i didn t got any advice from a gynecologist.

Welcome to HCM.

Yes it is possible to bleed heavily when used cytotec for medical abortion. Heavy bleeding is one of the complications of the Cytotec use at so late stage of pregnancy. It doesn't always go really like normal delivery.

Another complication of Medical Abortion this much late is, retained products of conception. In this case medical assistance from a gynecologist is needed. She may go for Dilatation and Curettage to evacuate the uterus.

So, I suggest you to please, visit a gynecologist if it really is a heavy bleed (you didn't mention the number of days elapsed the bleeding has not stoped). I also want to add that stop taking Cytotec right away. it is needed up to the time of start of bleeding.

The gynecologist will do an ultrasound and will examine the case thoroughly and she is trained to treat such cases successfully.

Hope it helps. Need further assistance, please feel free to contact me back through my profile.

Regards!
