What Causes Skipped Heartbeats?

Hey doctor, Since i was 11 (now i m 19), I used to feel my heart skipping a beat or two and then beating continuously with a really fast rythm. Since i was 11 I ve been exposed to chronic stress due to a past life crisis. I ve been seeing so many cardiologists who checked my cardiography but they all said that there is nothing wrong with my heart and it s by nature very fast. What do you think of it? It constantly beats super fast, i can ever see my shirt and my tummy moving in its rythm. Is this even normal? And the beats skipping thingy starts again when I ve got some stress.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The ECG can be normal if the heart rate and rhythm at the time of the test is normal.

You may want to consider a holter test. This is essentially a 24 hour ECG and can be done if the ECG shows no abnormalities and the person is still having symptoms.

It stays on for at least 24 hours (in some cases longer) while you go about your normal activities and monitors the heart rate and rhythm.

It would pick up if there are any problems. You can consider speaking to your doctor about this option.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Iven Romic Rommstein, General Surgeon
