What Causes Skipped Heart Beats?

I am 87 and a cyclist 10 miles/day. My resting heart rate has always been 60. But now it is measuring around 75 and skipping beats like I ve never seen before. Otherwise I feel fine but worried about my wife who recovered from a stroke and can t walk. Dave Wallace

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to the health care magic

Your question is regarding skipped heart beat for your case

It's good that you are doing exercise and active at such a old age

Heart rate and pulse between 60 to 100 can be considered normal

Now you are mentioning skipped beat, but you can't predict skipped heart beat as I feel..
So better to consult nearby doctor for blood pressure measurement and check your pulse and Auscultation for heart beats

If than needed further specific work up will be planned with EKG investigation

Take care

Hope your concern solved
