What Causes Skin Rash And Sore Throat?

Hi, my 8 yo son has developed a skin rash on his hands (including palms) and feet (including bottom). He had a couple of spots last Friday, but has many more today. Also, he complains of pain in the throat when swallowing and has an enlarged gland under his jaw. He has also had cold symptoms for the past few days. Should I worry?

HI...this seems like a hand foot mouth disease. You need not worry. It will be extremely itchy and if it is you can use some over the counter antihistaminics to control itching. Do not use any topical or emollient lotions - they will aggravate the situation.
In another 4-6 weeks there might even be some skin peeling and even then you need not worry.
