What Causes Shortness Of Breath While On Amlodipine Besylate?
My 92 year old mother has been prescribed amlodipine bestylate 5mg by her cardiologist. She has been having extreme shortness of breath which she did not have before taking this medicine. Can this medicine be causing it and should we contact the cardioligist?

It is possible for Amlodipine to cause shortness of breath from fluid in the lungs, especially if she already had heart problems. I would certainly contact her cardiologist, and, if her shortness of breath is not improving, I would recommend you take her to an ER.
