What Causes Shortness Of Breath Along With Rapid Heart Rate?

What would cause a professional motorcycle racer who is in great physical shape to struggle to get through ten minutes of racing? He s tired all the time and although he is in top physical shape and is used to two hours of racing he finds himself out of breath and has an accelerated heart rate, and is nauseous after moderate exertion.

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

I suggest you to consult a cardiologist for clinical assessment and relevant investigations. Although the motorcycle racer is in best health, there can be a cardiac or respiratory tract disease leading to accelerated heart rate and breathlessness. Diagnosis can be made after clinical assessment and relevant investigations.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
