What Causes Shortness Of Breath After Taking Nystatin?

I saw my dentist today was was diagnosed with thrush. The medication given was Nystatin to be be used after each meal and at bed time. After using the medication for over 3 hours my mouth burned, I felt short of breath so I discontinued using the medication. The dentist was in a staff meeting. I also contacted my pharmacist and she agreed that was quite a while for a reaction. My question is should I follow up with my dentist or contact my primary care giver?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It can be due to drug reaction. Better to stop the medicine and start alternatives. As of now drink plenty of water. If you experience pain in the oral cavity, you can apply Triamcinolone mouth paste also.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
