What Causes Shortness Of Breath After Switching From Effexor To Duloxetine?

My husband recently stopped Effexor and it was replaced with Duloxetine delayed release capsules 60 mg. He takes it at noon along with Atorvastatin Tab 80 mg and Zetia tab 10mg. Within 5 minutes he experiences shortness of breath that lasts for hours. Is there any reaction with these medications that would cause this?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello,

Effexor is having venlafexin. It is newer anti psychotic drug with least drug interactions. Duloxetin is older than venlafexin. So it shows side effects and drug interactions.

It shows drug interactions with atorvastatin. So better to avoid taking these drugs together. And effect of atorvastatin is highest when taken at night. So give him Duloxetin in the noon and atorvastatin at night.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
